Product Description:
High-quality fetal bovine serum (FBS) is sourced from cattle raised on high-quality pastures in New Zealand. Blood is collected via cardiac puncture from unborn fetuses, followed by centrifugation and three 0.1-μm filtration steps. It is then tested against multiple quality indicators, including BVDV (Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus) and a range of other viral tests, as well as mycoplasma, endotoxin, performance, and biochemical analyses. This grade of serum contains the growth factors necessary for embryonic development and has low immunoglobulin levels.
Gamma irradiation can effectively inactivate potentially contaminating viruses and mycoplasma in serum. The irradiation dose is 30–45 kGy . Moreover, this dose of gamma irradiation does not alter the physicochemical properties of the serum or its effects on cell culture.
