Heating can inactivate the complement system. Complement refers to a group of proteins present in the serum and tissue fluid of healthy humans and animals, which become activated and exhibit enzymatic activity upon stimulation. The activated complement system is involved in cell lysis, smooth muscle contraction stimulation, histamine release from cells and platelets, and lymphocyte and macrophage activation.
WISENT heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum is produced by selecting high-quality cows and collecting blood from their unborn calves via cardiac puncture. The serum is then heated to 56°C and maintained at this temperature for 30 minutes. Throughout the process, the serum quality is strictly controlled, and complement components are effectively inactivated. Experimental evidence indicates that heat-inactivated serum is not necessary for most cell cultures. For cells that do not require inactivation, this inactivation process has only a minimal or even negligible impact on cell growth. In some cases, it may lead to reduced growth rates and a significant increase in precipitates, which can hinder cell observation.

Selection conditions of animal cells:
Suitable for immunological research or culture of stem cells, insect cells and smooth muscle cells. It is recommended to use 10% of the concentration. Please combine the specific concentration with the experimental requirements.
