Products Description:Amphotericin B is a polyene antifungal antibiotic isolated from the culture medium of Streptomyces nodosus. Its mechanism of action involves binding to ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane, leading to membrane damage, increased permeability, leakage of intracellular components, and disruption of normal metabolism, thereby exerting its antifungal effects. Bacteria are not susceptible to amphotericin B due to the absence of ergosterol in their cell membranes.Amphotericin B has a broad antifungal spectrum and is effective against nearly all fungi, with resistance being rare. At high concentrations, it exhibits fungicidal activity. The solution is unstable at room temperature and is readily degraded by light, heat, and acidic conditions. Its antifungal activity is optimal within a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5.
