Product Description: WISENT HEPES buffer is 1M solution prepared with high-purity HEPES (free acid), high-quality NaOH and cell cultural-grade ultrapure water, and sterilized by filtration. 1M HEPES buffer (4-hydroxyethylpiperazine ethanesulfonic acid), after sterile filtration treatment, is suitable for use as an important biological buffer in cell biology, biochemistry and biological research.HEPES is an amphoteric ionic buffer that is effective within the pH range of 6.8 to 8.2 and is suitable for a wide range of research fields. HEPES can be used as a buffer for cell culture media and has several advantages over Tris and phosphates. Especially, it exhibits lower cytotoxicity, maintaining optimal cell condition and viability throughout experiments. In addition, it can maintain the physiological pH of cells, protect cells from the fluctuations of carbon dioxide caused by respiration, and ensure cell homeostasis. This capability is superior to that of bicarbonate buffer (NaHCO3).In addition to these excellent properties suitable for cell culture, HEPES can also be used in techniques such as immunoprecipitation, cell lysis, and live cell imaging, providing a stable and controlled experimental environment. With diverse functions, excellent pH buffering capacity and low interaction with other molecules, HEPES is an indispensable reagent across many research fields. The commonly used working concentration of HEPES in cell culture ranges from 5 mM to 30 mM. However, concentrations exceeding 40 mM may be cytotoxic to certain cell types and inhibit cell growth. HEPES is widely applied in numerous experimental scenarios including tissue culture. It is routinely used to stabilize the pH of cell culture media incubated under ambient air conditions.
