Product Description:

2-Mercaptoethanol (also known as beta-mercaptoethanol or BME) is a potent reducing agent used in cell culture media to prevent toxic levels of oxygen radicals. 2-Mercaptoethanol is not stable in solution, so most protocols require daily supplementation. 2-Mercaptoethanol contains 2-mercaptoethanol at a concentration of 55 mM in Dulbecco's phosphate buffered saline (DPBS).

Instructions For Use:

2-Mercaptoethanol is widely used for retarding oxidation of biological compounds in solution.

Notes：

Because of the action of SH ions, thiols can make proteins in skin and mucous membrane deteriorate, make conjunctiva and cornea turbid and even dissolve. In addition, generally have hypnotic effect, high concentration can paralyze the central nervous system. Most of the thiols can be absorbed through the skin, smear on the skin, short-term irritation and redness, long-term contact will be carcinogenic. but with the increase of the number of carbon atoms within the thiol molecule, its toxicity decreases: C1>C2>C3>C4>C5>C6>C7>C8… equipment should be airtight and operators should wear protective equipment.
